My name is Mark Corley, and I am both the Managing Director of Corley Estate Agents and the person you would be dealing with if you were to instruct us to sell your home.
I began my estate agency career in Oadby in 1988 working for a well know local firm who had just been acquired by a national company. Since those early times I worked for a couple of national firms and then, along with my brother Michael Corley, at Foster Corley in North West Leicestershire & South Derbyshire.
In 2008 I took the next step and bought my own estate agency business, located in South Derbyshire, which operated successfully as the market leader until I took the decision to move the business back to somewhere closer to home - those of you who commute to work will understand this decision, I am sure.
I opened my office here in Oadby as I live nearby and wanted to be able to offer something a bit different to the people living in and around this part of Leicestershire. Before opening the new office I felt it was important to ask myself one important question. "What can I offer that is different from those agencies already operating in this area?" If you look at what you might normally expect from an estate agent then the answer may be hard to find, however I have pinpointed two particular aspects of service that are absent within this area and that will set my company apart from other local agents.
Firstly, you will be dealing directly with me, the owner of the business. My staff will speak to you regarding certain day-to-day activities, but for the most part all of your dealings with Corley Estate Agents will be directly with me. And why is that different from speaking to a negotiator, valuer or manager from another firm? I believe that answer has three parts: experience, motivation, and accountability. Having worked in estate agency since 1988, I can guide you through any anxious or complicated times you may encounter and ensure they are dealt with in a way that is tried and tested by my own experiences. My motivation comes from wanting to make sure my business is a success, and not from targets issued by management who may not have worked "on the coal face" in estate agency for many years. And my accountability to you would be absolute. You will be able to contact me 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and you will not find yourself chasing round trying to get hold of me (and this is 364 days of the year - I will have to have Christmas day off though or I fear my family may disown me). If you walked into any other estate agent in Oadby today and compared the staff to those sitting in that same office 2 years ago, 2 months ago, or in some cases even 2 weeks ago, would they be the same? Continuity is the bedrock of accountability, and one thing for certain is that I will always be here, working for you.
Secondly, I have set our office systems up to work in a way that means our phone lines (and e-mail account) will be staffed 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. And this is not by a call centre, but by me and members of my staff. My approach to this subject was simple. To buy a house you most likely have a full-time job, and with a full-time job it is not always convenient for you to speak to your estate agent (as a buyer OR seller) during "normal" business hours. Giving people the freedom to call us up to 8pm any day of the week, including Sundays, is all part of my desire to offer a level of service that suits the CUSTOMER. No-one else will work harder for you.
